Makani Kai Air Policies

 Makani Kai Air will:

1. Offer you the finest personalized service and the lowest fare we can.
2. Provide you with on-time baggage delivery.
3. Provide you with prompt ticket refunds.
4. Properly accommodate passengers with disabilities and other special needs.
5. Respond promptly to complaints or requests for information.

When you call Makani Kai Air’s telephone reservation system, we will offer you the lowest published fare available through such telephone reservation system for which you are eligible given the dates and flight times available. Makani Kai Air charges a $15.00 per reservation fee for all reservations booked via the call center or in person. This fee is nonrefundable. Reservations booked online do not incur this charge.

· Makani Kai Air does not guarantee allocation of any particular seat in the aircraft, including advanced seat requests.
· Tours, hotel, and car rentals available through www.MakaniKaiAir.com are sold only as Makani Kai Air acting as a referring agent or booking agent and does not guarantee the service purchased. The vendors Terms of Contract override any terms set forth by Makani Kai Air.
· Makani Kai Air has the right to cancel the reservation (whether or not confirmed) of any passenger whenever such action is necessary to comply with any governmental regulation, upon any governmental request for emergency transportation in connection with the national defense, or whenever such action is necessary or advisable by reason of weather or other conditions beyond Makani Kai Air’s control.
· Makani Kai Air will collect $25.00 for each returned business check. This charge is non-refundable and is not subject to any discount. Reservations paid by a returned check will be cancelled unless a new form of payment plus returned check fee are paid within 24 hours of notice of returned check.
· Accompanied. Passengers under 18 years of age are deemed “accompanied” and will be accepted for transportation when traveling on the same flight with an adult passenger. Infants, children and minors will be considered accompanied when they are traveling with their legal guardian or one of their parents, irrespective of the age of the parent or legal guardian. One lap child (infants under the age of two years) per adult passenger is accepted. Additional infants under the age of two years not seated on a parent’s lap must occupy a seat and be ticketed at the applicable fare. This is a US Federal Aviation Regulation. Infants under the age of two years who are not ticketed may not occupy a seat. Children who have reached their second birthday are required to purchase a seat and occupy a seat with a separate seat belt.
· Unaccompanied. Children/Minors five to 17 years of age are deemed “unaccompanied” when traveling alone or not accompanied on the same flight by a companion passenger at least 18 years of age or with their legal guardian or parent(s). Children under five years of age must be “accompanied” and will not be accepted as “unaccompanied” under any conditions. Reservations of children aged five (5) through seventeen (17) traveling alone must be booked through the reservations center; online reservations for these passengers will not be accepted. Call Center fees will not apply to unaccompanied minor reservations booked through the reservations center. Unaccompanied children/minors are accepted for transportation at Makani Kai Air’s sole discretion, only if the child/minor is brought to the airport of departure by a parent, legal guardian, or responsible adult who shall remain with the child/minor until the child/minor has boarded and the plane has departed from the gate, and who must furnish Makani Kai Air with satisfactory written documentation that the child/minor will be met by another parent, legal guardian, or responsible adult upon deplaning at the child/minor’s destination. The parent, legal guardian, or responsible adult delivering the child/minor for departure and receiving the child/minor upon arrival will be required to complete and sign documentation as provided by Makani Kai Air relating to such unaccompanied child/minor.
· Unaccompanied assistance is mandatory for passengers five to 17 years old. A service charge of USD $25.00 will be assessed per fare component for unaccompanied assistance.
· When taking your child’s reservation, we will request telephone numbers for parents or guardians.  At check-in, you will also be asked to provide names, addresses and phone numbers for you and the party meeting your child.  We recommend checking in early to ensure there is adequate time to complete the required paperwork.  You will need to stay with your child until the flight departs.  We will require the party meeting your child to show proper identification before releasing your child to that party.
· In the event a parent, legal guardian, or approved person that is to receive the child does not show up within 45 minutes of arrival of the flight, Makani Kai Air has the right to charge a $30.00 per hour fee for securing the unaccompanied minor. Makani Kai Air will also seek repayment for basic meals during meal times if the minor is not received and is in Makani Kai Air custody.
· Makani Kai Air accepts for transportation, without charge, trained service animals for travel with a qualified individual with a disability who requires the animal to assist them in the performance of necessary activities. The animals will be permitted to accompany the passenger into the cabin.
· Makani Kai Air shall have the right to refuse to transport or shall have the right to remove from the aircraft at any point, any passenger for the safety of other passengers or members of the crew. We may also refuse transport to persons whose conduct is disorderly, offensive, abusive, or violent; persons who fail to comply with or interfere with the duties of the members of the flight crew, federal regulations, or security directives; also persons who are not properly clothed or strong offensive body odor offending or disrupting other Makani Kai Air guests.

    Baggage Policy
    · Each ticketed customer is allowed one carry-on (no larger than 22" x 14" x 9" and no heavier than 15 pounds).
    In addition to carry-on luggage, a customer may carry a handbag, pocketbook, overcoat, wrap, umbrella, walking stick, camera, binoculars, reading material for the flight, or food for consumption. Items must be able to fit under the seat in front of you. Name identification must be on the outside of any bags or luggage. Please keep valuables, computers, medications, house keys, car keys and important papers in a carry-on on your person.
    · Makani Kai Air charges a bag fee of $15. Maximum outside linear dimensions of 45 inches and 50lbs on the Cessna Grand Caravan aircraft; baggage over 50lbs is subject to an additional $25 fee.
    · Surfboards, fishing poles, and other irregular shaped items longer than 6 feet will be accepted only if they fit in the baggage compartment. There is an additional $25 fee for oversize baggage.
    · Makani Kai Air will not accept Styrofoam coolers as checked baggage unless packed inside an outer container or box, nor will we accept regular loose ice in an ice chest. Blue-ice or gel cooling packs are accepted in lieu of using dry ice.
    · Makani Kai Air will accept hard-sided coolers or soft-sided coolers as check in baggage. Styrofoam coolers will not be allowed as check in baggage unless packed inside an outer container or box.  In addition, loose ice will not be allowed in coolers. Only dry ice or blue ice will be accepted. Coolers may be carried on if they do not exceed 45 linear inches (length + width + height) and do not exceed 25 pounds.
    · No articles will be accepted for transportation if the maximum outside linear dimensions exceed 115 inches or if the article weighs more than 50 pounds.
    · Makani Kai Air liability for lost, damaged, or delayed baggage is limited to $3,300.00 per fare-paying customer.
    · Damaged or lost baggage must be reported, in person, within four hours of customer's arrival at destination.
    · Pets will be charged $25 per trip. No snakes on the plane, please. Passengers are responsible for ensuring that pet containers meet all governmental requirements for the safe and humane transportation of the animal being transported.
    · Makani Kai Air is committed to protecting the privacy of its customers in compliance with all relevant data protection laws. Please be advised that when you book or purchase a Makani Kai Air ticket for transportation, personal data is collected, used, processed and transferred for the following business purposes: making a reservation; purchasing a ticket; accounting, billing and auditing; checking credit or other payment mechanisms; customer relations; sales and marketing; statistical analysis; developing and tailoring current and future services. Upon booking a ticket for transportation or purchasing other services, you authorize Makani Kai Air to collect, process, retain and use, and transfer to third parties such personal data as Makani Kai Air deems necessary.
    · To ensure your make your connection with flights on other air carriers at Honolulu International Airport, please plan on arriving in Honolulu at least two hours prior to your connecting flight.
